Expressing Condolences

Video

I am now at http://englishwithkatie.com and learning how to post there!!! The address is a bit different–than this one!

There have been a lot of storms, earthquakes, murders and death is with us everyday–a friend’s cat or dog; a co-worker’s mother or brother. I felt it was time to learn English for a difficult situation: expressing condolences. Here is our phrase of the day and our theme for this week:

I am so sorry for your loss. Words cannot express how deeply sorry I am (for what you are going through). If there is anything I can do, please let me know.

Out loud, Under your breath, In your head—a little English every day!

Have a good one!

Cheers,

Katie

A Christmas Feast!!!

Holiday Cheer in Randy’s Kitchen

photo

Baster (kitchen tool) To pour juices on the turkey, while it cooks, we will use the baster.

Stuffing (Bread put inside the turkey) We make stuffing and put it inside the turkey to cook.

Feast (Large meal) There is nothing like a traditional Christmas feast with family and friends.

Gravy (hot brown sauce) Gravy is served over meat and potatoes.

Carve (Slicing meat) Usually the father will carve the Christmas Turkey at the table.

Stocking (Christmas socks) We hang our Christmas Stockings on the fireplace and Santa fills them with snacks and toys.

Boxing Day (Holiday- Day after Christmas) December 26th is Boxing Day and now it is becoming a major shopping day.

Leftovers (extra food) It is common to have a lot of leftovers after a Christmas meal and we eat turkey for the next few days.

Christmas Goodies (home-made desserts and cookies) Mothers usually bake many treats in December and serve “Christmas Goodies” to friends and family who visit during the holidays.
